-R Forced Recursive ( Change Will Include Everything in Associated Directory Tree )

Tapes, Backups, and Archives:

tar Tape Archive Standard Way to Read and Write Archives
c Create Creates an Archive Containing the Specified Content
f File Declares that a Specific Filename is to Follow
t Table of Contents Lists the Contents of an Archived File
v Verbose Displays Contents and Status as it is Tarring or Extracting
x Extract Extracts the Contents of an Archived File
